[Company] geotechnical engineering practice provides solutions for foundation design and rehabilitation, underground construction, earth structures and water resources. Exploration, analysis and design related to soil, rock and groundwater is an essential part of every project. Our engineers and geologists specialize in foundation design and testing, landslides, sinkholes, mine subsidence, seepage, expansive soils and seismic activity.
Our Geotechnical Practice is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Jacksonville, FL office. This individual will assist senior engineers and project managers in the analysis, design and construction observation of a wide variety of transportation, water resources, and infrastructure related projects.


Serve as geotechnical engineer performing analyses and technical designs for soil mechanics, material engineering, and foundations studies utilizing a highly developed professional knowledge of civil engineering theories and practices.
Conduct scientific studies of subsurface materials (soil and rock) for use in determining the suitability of these materials for the construction of embankment.
Determines shear strength parameters to use in analyses based on knowledge and experience.
Perform stability investigations and analyses of embankments, excavations, and canal slopes.
Employ complex finite element method of analyses for analyzing seepage problems, dewatering requirements, and foundation support necessary for all types of hydraulic structures.
Perform geotechnical stability analyses for retaining walls, bulkheads, excavation bracing, bridge abutments, and foundation walls.
Assist in the performance of field investigations, laboratory testing, and field testing to determine geotechnical parameters for use in the design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations for highway bridges and major hydraulic structures, stability and seepage analyses of earthen embankments, settlement estimates, lateral earth pressure assessments for retaining walls, and ground improvement assessments for complex sites.
Assist project managers and senior engineers with the preparation of geotechnical reports, proposals, project plans and specifications.


Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s Degree with Geotechnical focus is strongly preferred.
P.E. designation or ability to obtain within six months required.
Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical experience with emphasis on water resources projects is required.
Field experience with observation and evaluation of construction activities such as dams, levees, cofferdams, armoring systems (riprap, soil cement, etc.), pile driving, earthwork, and shoring is preferred.
Candidate must be willing to travel up to 20%.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, CADD, slope stability, finite-element seepage, soil-structure interaction, and other engineering software as appropriate.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
