We are looking for a dynamic leader with a proven track record for building robust quality management systems to join our team as the Quality Assurance Manager at our Regina location. In this fast paced role the successful candidate will lead all quality assurance activities for the Tubular products group.

Job Responsibilities

Provide the means to success by offering guidance, coaching and mentorship, and setting high expectations for the Quality Assurance/Control team that supports operations in all aspects of consistently manufacturing the highest quality tubular products
Communicate clearly, promptly and with integrity and respect for all internal and external stakeholders and a high regard for accuracy of information being shared
Strive for excellence by enhancing the existing framework for continuous improvement for improved customer satisfaction
Collaborate with inter-departmental teams at all levels of management demonstrating a positive attitude toward new ideas and participate in tubular business meetings when required
Steward the quality management system and associated quality assurance procedures, standard operating procedures, gage management, and personnel training to maintain compliance with national and international quality standards
Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects as appropriate
Develop and implement effective corrective actions for customer complaints and significant internal quality issues
Participate in Tubular products group internal and external quality audit functions
Manage key supplier standards and qualification processes
Intimately understand the requirements of national, international and customer tubular standards/specifications and communicate inspection or processing requirements to Operations
Determine the statistical capability of key product criteria to ensure consistent product conformity
Develop and confirm that inspection practices and procedures are appropriate and in compliance with specified requirements
Oversight of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection practices and procedures
Analyze customer and production key performance indicators
Lead product and process improvement through conducting and formalizing quality improvement and/or new product developments.
Assemble summary information and submit supplier skelp claims as required
Oversee inspection of supplied materials from third parties
Prepare technical reports that analyze dates and identify next steps, and present key results to multiple stakeholders
Manage product test lab and lab personnel and ensure the completion of product testing and certification packages
Effectively manage support QA & QC staff to meet larger departmental goals

Job Requirements

University degree in materials/metallurgical, industrial or mechanical engineering, or a technical degree with quality control experience
Minimum of 5 years experience leading quality control teams of five or more in an industrial environment
Demonstrated ability to partner with stakeholders with a strong focus on client service
Ability to work effectively with hourly and management ranks
Proven track record for building or improving a robust quality management systems with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
Understanding of ISO quality standards and quality management systems
Experience giving presentations to management regarding project results
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of pipe and/or steel mill processes and operations
Comprehensive knowledge of tubular industry standards including: American Petroleum Institute (API), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), ASME or API welding as well as mechanical and NDE testing
Preference to Six Sigma green or black belt
Trained and certified in quality auditing
